7 Mar 2011: TCS CEO says demand pipeline looks good  
Tata Consultancy Service (TCS), India's top software services exporter, is seeing good demand for outsourcing services across sectors and expects client spends to be better in fiscal 2012.

N. Chandrasekaran, who is also the managing director of TCS, said IT outsourcing demand in Europe was recovering but was "slightly behind the curve", while outlook for North America, its largest exports market, remained strong. TCS, whose clients include Citigroup and General Electric , has not seen any business impact from the unrest in Middle East and North Africa.

Chandrasekaran also said the company would recruit as many or slightly less than about 50,000 it hired last year.


7 Mar 2011: Saviance Technologies announces deals with six new clients
IT firm Saviance Technologies today announced acquiring six new clients for its Viburnix solution in Indian and US markets.

The six new clients spread across India and the US markets are NIEF (National Institute Education Foundation, US), SOIL (School of Inspired Learning), Mahindra Finance, NMIMS (Narsee Monji Institute of Management Studies), Department of Management Studies of IIT Delhi and Tata Institute of Social Sciences.

Saviance will provide its unified communication and collaborative platform Viburnix to all these clients.


5 Mar 2011: iGate shortlists Cognizant's veteran employee Debashis Chatterjee for COO rank  

Cognizant's former employee Debashis Chatterjee is now being pursued by Phaneesh-Murthy led iGate for the post of the company's chief operating officer. Debashis was leading the banking and financial services sector for Cognizant for over 7 years and was a Cognizant veteran having worked with the organization for 14 years.



4 Mar 2011: Wipro gears up for talent war, scraps employment bonds for fresh graduates 

Preparing for the talent war this year, IT major Wipro Technologies has scrapped the upfront payment of 75,000 towards employment bonds for new recruits. Until last year, fresh engineering recruits at Wipro were asked to make a payment of 75,000 while signing employment contracts. But in a year when demand for software services is improving and the war for talent has reached peak levels, the company is changing policies to attract freshers.

During high-growth periods, IT companies increase hiring at the lower rung to manage costs and increase bench strength and Wipro has also talked about ramping up recruitment at the bottom of the employee pyramid. The company plans to offer double-digit wage hikes this April to attract talent.

 

3 Mar 2011: Law Society of England selects TCS as strategic partner

The Law Society of England and Wales has chosen Indian IT company Tata Consultancy Services as its strategic transformation partner. TCS will work with The Law Society initially on a system development project, which aims to create a more effective online service for The Law Society and its members.

In UK, the legal services industry is forecast to undergo material change as the Legal Services Act (LSA) 2007 comes into implementation in 2011.

 

3 Mar 2011: Infosys plans promotions, decision-making roles for GenNext leaders
Infosys may award a number of its geNext leaders promotions, salary hikes and a place in one of the company's key decision-making bodies in a bid to soothe ruffled feathers ahead of a top-level reshuffle involving the CEO and chairman.

As Infosys Technologies prepares to appoint SD Shibulal as CEO later this year—the last among the founders to take on the role—the company is scrambling to manage aspirations of its GenNext leaders, who will now have to wait longer to get a chance to run India's second-biggest software firm.
